The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has apprehended two individuals suspected of gang involvement in Nthiwa, Migori County, following a targeted operation based on intelligence reports.
According to a DCI statement released on Sunday, August 16, 2026, detectives intercepted a silver Toyota Voxy traveling along Nthiwa Road in Yamase. A search of the vehicle uncovered five pangas and additional crude weapons believed to be intended for criminal use.
The suspects were taken into custody and are currently being processed ahead of arraignment. Investigations continue as authorities seek to identify and arrest other members of the suspected group.

In a related operation the same day, DCI officers detained fifteen suspected gang members in Kisumu County after intercepting three vehicles on the Kisumu–Kericho highway. The operation involved collaboration between the DCI Operations Support Unit, Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) Nyanza Region, and Kisumu Central officers.
Searches of the vehicles and suspects yielded mobile phones, machetes, pangas, knives, ropes, metal rods, and other items linked to potential criminal activities.
These coordinated efforts underscore the DCI’s intensified campaign to dismantle armed criminal networks across the region.
