Coach Bernard Rotich Ends 15-Year Tenure at Blak Blad, Joins KCB Rugby

Bernard Rotich Kibet has officially left Blak Blad Rugby Club after dedicating 15 years to the team, transitioning to a new role with KCB Rugby. Rotich's move to KCB will see him join the technical bench under head coach Andrew Amonde.

Rotich’s association with Blak Blad began as a player, spending nearly five years before stepping away and eventually returning in September 2019 as a coach. His leadership culminated in the 2025/26 season when he steered the team to its inaugural Kenya Cup semi-final appearance.

The semi-final against Kabras Sugar marked his final 15-a-side game for Blak Blad, while the recent Driftwood 7s tournament in Mombasa was his last in the club’s colours.

Impact Beyond the Pitch

Blak Blad expressed deep gratitude for Rotich’s contributions, highlighting not only his tactical acumen but also his mentorship and role in nurturing young talent. The club emphasized that his influence extended beyond competitive results, shaping players' character and personal development.

In a farewell message, Blak Blad stated, "Coach Tichi has been a great servant of BlakBlad for 15 years... Your legacy won’t vanish into the distance, not when we are here. You are not just a game changer; you changed the lives of many in the spirit of building better men."

The club wished Rotich success as he embarks on his new journey with KCB, acknowledging the lasting memories and commitment he brought to Blak Blad.
