The event took place at Nyayo National Stadium as part of the 2026 China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, commemorating 70 years of diplomatic relations between China and Africa.

The drones illuminated the night sky, creating vivid images that celebrated the enduring partnership between Kenya and China. Themes included regional integration, cultural exchange, sport, wildlife conservation, infrastructure development, and trade cooperation.

Earlier, over 130 delegates from government, civil society, international organizations, businesses, and media gathered in Nairobi for the Second China-Africa Civil Society Public Welfare Exchange Forum. Discussions centered on cooperation in women's empowerment, child protection, skills development, healthcare, and community resilience.

Hao Zhongwei, Secretary-General of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, emphasized the role of public welfare projects in translating diplomacy into tangible community benefits. Kenya's Gender Principal Secretary Anne Wang'ombe highlighted expanding cooperation in areas such as youth development, digital inclusion, and climate resilience.

Collaborations included a Letter of Intent for Friendly Cooperation between the Shaanxi Provincial Women's Federation and Kenya's National Government Affirmative Action Fund, a women's empowerment workshop, and plans for a children's reading corner in Mathare.

Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Guo Haiyan noted the critical role of civil society, women, youth organizations, and businesses in bringing bilateral relations closer to ordinary citizens. Chinese enterprises in Kenya continue to contribute to employment, skills training, digital empowerment, and healthcare services.
