The Bomas International Convention Complex (BICC), covering over 323,500 square metres, is approaching completion as Kenya positions Nairobi as a premier hub for international conferences, exhibitions, and business tourism.

Internal Security Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo highlighted the project's significance in strengthening Nairobi’s role in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) sector.

Facility Features

  • Capacity for up to 11,000 delegates
  • 35 meeting rooms
  • 5,000-seat main auditorium
  • 3,500-seat secondary auditorium
  • Presidential facility for high-level meetings
  • Large banquet hall

Beyond conferencing spaces, the complex will house hotels, retail outlets, recreational areas, cultural venues, and an expanded animal orphanage, offering a comprehensive experience for visitors.

Strategic Location and Economic Impact

Situated near Kenya’s cultural landmarks and Nairobi National Park, the BICC aims to merge business engagements with Kenya’s rich cultural and wildlife attractions. This integration is expected to boost economic activity by attracting international delegates who will contribute to sectors such as hospitality, transport, entertainment, and tourism.

Construction is being led by the Kenya Defence Forces under the Ministry of Defence, with KDF engineers playing a pivotal role in the project’s development.

Vision for Nairobi

Omollo emphasized that the initiative is designed not only to host conferences but also to offer a unique Kenyan business and tourism experience. The complex is poised to enhance Nairobi’s competitiveness in the global MICE market by drawing high-profile international events and expanding Kenya’s business tourism footprint.
