A boda boda rider lost his life after being hit by a vehicle on Nairobi's Jogoo Road, between Donholm and Hamza estates, on Wednesday, August 12.

The incident occurred at a notorious accident blackspot on this busy urban corridor, resulting in heavy traffic congestion as bystanders and fellow riders gathered at the scene. Bloodstains were visible on the pavement near a black SUV involved in the crash.

A witness at the site described the area as dangerous and urged commuters to exercise caution, noting that the vehicle involved was escorted to Buruburu Police Station following the accident.

Calls for Improved Road Safety

This fatality adds to a growing number of road accidents recently reported across Kenya, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced safety measures, especially in high-traffic zones like Jogoo Road.

Authorities have yet to release details on the cause of the collision.

Related Tragedy in Mombasa

In a separate incident, two students from the Technical University of Mombasa died in a road crash while en route to Kisumu for a funeral. The bus they were travelling in swerved to avoid a speeding vehicle, leading to the accident. Twenty-nine other students were injured, with most discharged after treatment.

The university has appealed to the public to avoid sharing graphic images from the crash site.
