Embakasi East Member of Parliament, Babu Owino, has accused Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma, and an MCA named Ogindo of conspiring to disrupt the Linda Mwananchi political rally scheduled for August 16, 2026, in Homa Bay County.
Speaking on Radio Jambo, Owino claimed the group held a meeting late Tuesday night where they allegedly planned to mobilise thugs to attack supporters of the opposition movement during the rally.
He warned that the planned mobilisation could escalate into violence and urged security agencies, including Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, to ensure the safety of residents and participants attending the event.

He also highlighted that previous Linda Mwananchi events in western Kenya counties like Kakamega, Bungoma, and Vihiga were conducted peacefully, questioning why similar tolerance is not extended in Homa Bay.
The MP reiterated his commitment to continue with the rally as planned, stating the movement will engage residents and then return to Nairobi without carrying the county "on our backs."
Owino concluded by urging that political differences should not lead to bloodshed, stressing that democracy allows for diverse political opinions, including those supporting "two-term" or "one-term" leadership camps.
